Japan controlled the rhythm at the beginning but it was Greece who created the threat first. On 4th minute, Mitroglou found space in the Japanese penalty area, but his shot was just over the bar. On 68 minutes, Atsuto Uchida hit the ball across the goal, providing Yoshito Okubo with a perfect opportunity to open the scoring, but he blazed over from close range.
Three minutes later, Japan was given another opportunity as Greece defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos inexplicably dribbled across his own six yard box before Atsuto Uchida came in with a shot, which just went wide.

BEIJING, July 14 (Xinhua) -- Technological problem might force Apple to delay the release of its next flagship smartphone -- iPhone 8, U.S. news network the CNBC cited a report from Bank of America as saying.
The report, written by Bank of America Merrill Lynch's two analysts, said the iPhone 8 "will ship 3-4 weeks delayed given technological issues which Apple and its suppliers are working through."
The observation, according to the CNBC, was made after the two analysts' recent visits to Apple's suppliers in Asia.
Apple has not released a launch date for the as-yet announced iPhone 8 but it typically releases new iterations of the device in September.
The report said the problems are with the new fingerprint sensor and 3D-scanning technologies.
The fingerprint sensor is said to be the first from Apple that would be integrated into screen, replacing the current physical button on the smartphone.
The 3D-scanning technology would be used to verify a person's identity and allow the owner access to iPhone's softwares by scanning th user's face.
Prior to the report, other financial firms such as RBC Capital Markets, Cowen,and Drexel Hamilton had said last month that Apple's next big handset announcement could be delayed to October or even November. Shares of the iPhone maker traded mildly over lower Wednesday.

China's central bank cut interest rates on Friday－for the sixth time in a year－and reduced the reserve requirement ratio (RRR) for all banks.
The "double cut", as Chinese financial media described the move, came four days after it was announced that GDP growth in the third quarter expanded by 6.9 percent, lower than the government's annual target of 7 percent.
Also on Friday, Premier Li Keqiang told 2,600 officials at the Central Party School that the government still has many policy weapons to maintain steady economic growth.
In particular, he mentioned a "rational use" of methods such as cutting interest rates and the RRR.
The People's Bank of China－the central bank－lowered the one-year benchmark bank lending rate by 25 basis points to 4.35 percent and the benchmark rate for one-year bank deposits by the same margin to 1.5 percent, effective from Saturday.
The bank also cut the RRR by 50 basis points for all banks, taking it to 17.5 percent for the country's biggest lenders.
Chinese financial information website Hexun said the "double cut" can provide a maximum of 900 billion yuan ($140 billion) in additional liquidity to the Chinese investment market.
Buoyed by China's decision, announced late in the evening in Asia, European shares moved higher and the Chinese offshore yuan rate fell against the US dollar, hitting a four-week low of 6.3958.
